Sandy Run Christmas Parade
Brenda’s daughter was our Purple Martin and she was so good – she had fun flapping her wings! We had a little house in the back of the float and we considered that a bird house. We threw out soooo much candy. Terry Swofford was the only scholarship winner who was able to attend – Brenda and her daughter and Reed and I were the ones who was on the float.
According to Freida Spigner, it was a small crowd and the parade number was smaller than normal. They do a little different from our PM – when you get there you just pull behind the person in front of you and then they go around and put numbers on the floats. They have different categories than we for our awards.
At the end of the parade (ended at Pete Tucker’s store) everyone in the parade parked in the big field beside his store and there is where they give out the winners. Sandy Run School won best overall – the school and chamber were the only ones that had rented Floats. The cutest thing was Lynn Atkinson who had her 2 year old daughter on a beautiful horse and - of course Lynn was in control and the horse did great and so do the child! The baby was dressed in red and white and so was the horse. He even had on red leggings on his front legs – beautiful - and they won one of the awards.
A good day and glad we were able to participate.
What a fun time we had on Saturday at the Sandy Run Christmas Parade! It was a beautiful day and our float looked really good - Denver had decorated our float with bells and Christmas green.
